Roman Civilization Museum Rome

The Roman Civilization Museum, inaugurated in 1955 in a historical area as Eur, represents an extraordinary exposition touching the innumerable faces of the ancient roman times, by tracing, reproduction, reconstruction of find all over the word. It is composed of fifty nine sections on a 10.000 square meters surface ordered in halls in average height of ten meters to allow a faithful reconstruction of monuments.
Among the most interesting works there is the great plastic model of Rome at the time of Costantino I (IV century a. d.).
It is in scale 1.250. The model performed by the architect Italo Gismondi based itself on Forma Urbis Severiana and from Forma Urbis Roma by Rodolfo Lanciani. The model is subject to a constant updating, thanks to new discoveries.
