Ara Pacis Augustae is the altar the emperor Augusto devoted to the female Goddess of Peace. His monument is one of the most important artistic works of the period of Augusto, representing peace and prosperity got by the Pax Romana.
On the 4th of 13B.C. the Roman Senate decided about the Altar construction in occasion of Augustus’s return from Spain and Southern Gallia, after three years stay.
Actually Ara Pacis presents a covering designed by the architect Richard Meyer, made by steal, travertine, glass and putty. Inaugurated officially to the public on April the 21st 2006 in occasion of the Christmas of Rome.

Ara Pacis is one of the most famous and frequented places in Rome.
