Old City Square - Prague
The square, the real heart of the Old City (Starè Mesto), in Prague, has seen many important events, such as feasts, tournaments, executions and coronations. In the XII century, Italians, Germans, French and Jews settled in this area. From an architectonic point of view the Old City Square presents a wide variety of styles. The statue of Jana Husa (radical reformer) was placed here in 1915 in memory of the 500 years from his death. In the square there is the city hall (Radnice), on which you can also see the Astronomical Clock that dates back to 1410. On the other side of the square there is an important symbol for the city of Prague, the Tyn Church, with its 2 imposing twin bell towers that was the seat of the Hussites (utra quist). Other things to see are the historical pharmacy with its furniture in empire style and the neo gothic house decorated on a façade of graffiti.
