Mala Strana Square - Prague

Main square of the Mala Strana district, the Malostranke Namesti (Mala Strana Square) is surrounded by small buildings in baroque and renaissance style, imported here by the italian artists and architects that settled in this area.  In the square you can admire the Church of Saint Nicholas (built in the second half of the seventeenth century and considered one of the most important examples of baroque architecture in Europe) and the Column of the Virgin, built in 1715 in memory of the end of the plague that decimated the population.  From the square you can easily reach, from Charles Bridge and continuing on the Nerudova Street (considered the most beautiful of the city), the Prague Castle.  Also close by there is the Petrin Hill.

Mala Strana Square is one of the most popular sites of interest of the city of Prague and it can be easily reached from all the main sites.
