New City - Prague

The heart of the New City is the Venceslao Square.  The district, founded by king Charles IV in 1348, was meant to be the commercial center of Prague and, in fact, today it is still filled with hotels, banks, shopping centers and other commercial activities.  The main squares of the area are: Venceslao Square (ex horse market), Charles Square (ex livestock market), and Senovazne Namesti (ex hay market).  The New City can be easily reached from the Old City through two important streets that separate them: Narodni and Na Prikope.  The area is excellently connected to the rest of the city by the public transports.  The National Museum, found  in the higher part of Venceslao Square, can be reached with the subway (lines A and C) or with the tram (line 11, Muzeum stop).  If you want to reach the lower part of the square instead, you will have to get off at the Mustek stop.  Certainly a must is also the nearby district of Vinohrady.

The New City is one of the most popular areas for tourists and inside our Prague Hotels Search you can get all the informations about the accomodations around Venceslao Square.
