Klementium National Library - Prague

The Klementium is a complex of historical buildings situated on the Moldava shore (in the Old City), very close to Charles Bridge (Prague).  It is known to be the second biggest complex of the city after the Prague Castle, with its 20000 meters squared, and to be the third biggest Jesuit college of the world.  Founded in 1781, the architecture is in a baroque style.  Inside there is a collection containing texts regarding the history of the Czech literature.  In 2005 the National Library received the Jikji prize from the UNESCO.  There are works taking place right now that will expand the surface of the complex, allowing the National Library to gather new collections.  A race has been organized for the project of the new building and it has been won by Jan Kaplicky.  Close by there is the Old City Square.
