Church of Saint Nicholas - Prague

Erected in the Mala Strana district, precisely in the Mala Strana Square, the Church of Saint Nicholas represents one of the main examples of Baroque architecture in Europe, and is one of most beautiful churches in Prague.  Starting from 1673, year in which its construction began, up to 1752, year in which it was completed, four architects have worked on this proect (P. Bos, Giovanni Domenico Orsi, Krystof Dientzenhofer, and Kilian Ignac Dientzenhofer).  Amongst the most famous artists of the Baroque period have worked in the church, filling it with frescos, statues, and decorations in marble.  When visiting the gallery you can admire the most important and precious monument kept within the church, the Passion Cycle, made up of 10 paintings, done in between 1673 and 1674 by Karel Skreta.
