In the Mitte district, heart of the ex East Berlin, situated in a liberty edifice, damaged by the bombardments of World War II, the Tacheles is today amongst the most famous community centers of the city.  Not far away from the Alexanderplatz, the Tacheles hosts the works of art of eccentric Berlin designers and writers, a movie theatre, a space for the artistic “performances” , and a laboratory.  Within it, there is the Café Zapata, which, built in steel, is decorated with bizarre elements that are strangely shaped.
